Each letter is wrapped in its own element with WrapChars, then animated. Letters near the pointer grow and come into focus, like a magnifying glass moving over the page. At rest the text is normal size and stays readable: 60% opacity keeps black text above 3:1 at this size, and the blur is under 1px.
